Soldiers’ Field in Roundhay Park, Leeds

Marcella Claxton and Irene Richardson were both driven to Soldier's field in Roundhay Park, Leeds, by Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe.

Marcella Claxton

On Monday, 10th May, 1976, Sutcliffe was cruising around Leeds in his white Ford Corsair. He picked Marcella Claxton up at approximately 4am. They drove to Soldiers' Field in Roundhay park where Marcella was attacked. Marcella survived the attack, giving a very close description to that of earlier victim, Tracy Browne.


Irene Richardson

On the night of Saturday, 5th February, 1977, Irene Richardson left her bed and breakfast abode at 11.15pm to search for business. After being picked up by Peter Sutcliffe they drove to Soldiers' Field. Whilst there, Irene was brutally murdered.
