Emily Jackson

The Gaiety Public House is where Yorkshire Ripper Victim Emily Jackson parked her Commer Van in order to 'do business' with her clients. Her husband, Sydney, would often be in the pub whilst Emily plied her trade.

Emily Jackson was found murdered on 21st January 1976. Her body was found in a derelict cul-de-sac off Roundhay Road in Chapeltown. This location was less than half a mile from the Gaiety Public House on Roundhay Road in Leeds.

Marcella Claxton

In May 1976 the Gaiety Public House was once again part of the Yorkshire Ripper Inquiry.

After being attacked by Sutcliffe in early May Marcella Claxton was enjoying a night out n the Gaiety Pub when she saw Sutcliffe briefly enter and then leave the pub.

He was gone before she could raise the alarm.
